37 MPH -Lerato EP

37mph is music director, composer and producer hailing from King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape who harnessed his musical genius when he was attended Dale College High – playing the piano and being in the school choir. By 2003, at the tender age of 22, he began his music career after leaving the University of Cape Town to join recording label Ghetto Ruff where he created music alongside talent such as RJ Benjamin, Jozi (Bongani Fassie, Da Les and Ishmael), Gumshev, Gift Gwe (Idols SA runner up 2005), Morafe and also worked on two songs for Academy Award winning movie Tsotsi’s soundtrack. Since then his profile as composer, producer and director continued to expand as he continued creating more work with more stars such as Zola 7, Malik, Slikour, Zuluboy, JR, Nomsa Mazwai, Reason, Proverb, Sindi Nene, Tebogo Moloto, Sauiti Sol (Kenya), Rayvanny (Tanzania), (Negus (France), Vanda May (Portugal), Trey Songz (USA), Jason Derulo (USA), Kendrick Lamar (USA). He also worked shows like Hansa Festival of Legends, SA Hip Hop Awards, The Voice South Africa, Nigeria and Afrique Francophone, Coke Studio South Africa and Africa, M-Net 30th Celebration, The Bantu Hour S4, three years of DStv Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Awards and many more.

Lerato is a 10-track album available for download on Spotify, Apple Music, Joox and Tidal. Created between August and September 2020 after 37mph recovered from Covid19 – Lerato meaning “love” in Sotho, is a collection of songs written about love from numerous perspective – from broken hearts, end of love to finding healing and new love while praising the existing love for self and consistent ones in our lives. On this project, music producer/music director/composer Mpho “37mph” Pholo collaborated with industry friends Zeus, Myko Ouma and Chad Da Don while he also “opened up the industry” for up-and-coming performing artists on these songs recorded and mastered during the time of devastating global pandemic. South African Talent including Chad Da Don, Zulu Mecca, Lele, 2RealSA, Tamarsha, Kebbish Colley, Mosa and Garret Webster.
